Void Filling Under Screed
Levels irregularities with lightweight granules; limits structural load increase while improving thermal and acoustic behaviour.
A lightweight, fully natural fill obtained by granulating ICB boards. Used for void filling under screed, lightweight concrete/screed mixes and acoustic correction.
Application

Levels irregularities with lightweight granules; limits structural load increase while improving thermal and acoustic behaviour.

Adding granules directly into the cement-sand mix produces lightweight mixes with thermal and acoustic benefits. Example: 14 cm concrete + 7 cm granulated lightweight concrete + 4 cm screed → Ln,r,w ≈ 62 dB.

Effective absorption at mid–high frequencies behind perforated cladding or as a fill.
Data
| Material | 100% expanded cork granules (from ICB) |
| Density | ≈ 65–80 kg/m³ (loose fill) |
| Thermal conductivity λ | ≈ 0.045–0.050 W/m·K |
| Granule sizes | 0–2, 2–4, 2–9, 3–15, 4–8, 4–10 mm |
* Values are typical; may vary by project and system detail.
| Dosage (Cement : Sand : Granules) | Unit weight (kg/m³) | Compression (kg/cm²) | λ (W/m·K) |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 : 0 : 4 | ≈ 500 | ≈ 6 | ≈ 0.18 |
| 1 : 2 : 6 | ≈ 900 | ≈ 11 | ≈ 0.24 |
| Band | Low | Mid | High |
|---|---|---|---|
| Mix A | ≈ 0.22 | ≈ 0.70 | ≈ 0.84 |
| Mix B | ≈ 0.16 | ≈ 0.20 | ≈ 0.48 |
* Example data; varies by mix ratio, granule size, compaction and system layers.
